Some might be wondering where this title is coming from. But it comes from my CRAZY day yesterday. You would had thought it was a Monday!
I woke at my children's elementary school in the cafeteria. Which I love because I'm off work when they are out of school, and if they get sick, I can take off work easier than some. It also gives access to me for my kids usually any time I'm there. Well I was helping kindergartners get their breakfast yesterday morning, when I heard my mother in law's voice (she is the cafeteria manager) say "She is over there" . I look up and there is Dalton , with tears down his face. I start walking to him, and ask "whats wrong?" We walk to Dorothy's office, and he looks at me with the biggest tears, and says "I hurt my foot in gym". He was running in gym, with no shoes on, and tripped and his foot bent under him. I knew it must hurt really bad for him to come find me and being crying while at school. As one of his teacher's said "His a tough little boy, I knew it must be hurting for him to be crying" I agree. He doesn't cry much when he falls etc. only unless it hurts extremely bad! So he sits down, and I take his sock off. I notice his pinkie toe is red, and then notice a little swelling on the side of his foot. I was so praying he has not broke his foot. Then my mother in law comes in and sees it, and says that is also the foot he broke. I'm like oh no he has broken this foot again. I had flash backs from 2 1/2 years ago.........
2 1/2 years ago around this same time, Deon and Dalton was wrestling in the living room. Deon picks up Dalton and flips him over his back, and when Dalton landed his right foot bent under him. Dalton yelled out the most horrible scream! I came running and Dalton was sitting there crying, talking about his foot hurting. We sat him up on the couch, and noticed the swelling and bruising of his foot around the toes area. We put ice on it for the rest of that night. He did limp when he went off to bed, thought in the morning he would be fine. The next morning he wakes up and cannot walk on his foot. Deon said "I don't think its broken, just bruised" So we went on our day, and for another day he was still limping, and while at church one night he had took his shoe off because it hurting so badly. I had noticed that he a bruise on top of his foot and the bottom of his foot. I told Deon "I'm taking him to the doctor, I believe this foot broken" So went the next day, they did the x rays, the doctor came in the room and said "Yes its fractured right under his toes" So for 6 weeks Dalton got to walk around with a boot. He thought this was so cool, till there were things he couldn't do because of his foot etc. It got old real quick. Ok, back to present time........
Tuesday, February 1st.... I'm sitting there staring at Dalton thinking "here we go again". I told him to go on back to class and we'll see what it looks like in a couple of hours when you come to lunch" So when he came back for lunch, I took his sock off again, and noticed more swelling and a little bruising, and Dalton said it wasn't getting better. So I called the doctor to get a appointment to get it x rayed.
We got it x rayed and went up to the doctor's office. When the nurse came in and saw the swelling on his foot, she says "That's all I have to see, I'm getting the doctor" I'm still thinking oh no this foot is going to be broken, he's going to have to wear a boot again!" Doctor comes in does his thing by squeezing his foot and Dalton saying "Ow Ow". Goes look at the x ray, comes back and says "Its not broken" I sighed with relief. It is just strained. He wrapped it with ace bandage, and told him to stay off of it for the night, and no PE this week. I was relieved that it wasn't broken, and Dalton was too, he did not like having to wear that boot for 6 weeks.
I have a feeling this will not be my last trip to the doctor for a x ray with this boy!
